Epson announced the expansion of its lineup of 3LCD home entertainment projectors on Wednesday. The Epson Home Cinema 640 projector comes with 3,200 limens of color brightness and 3,200 lumens of white brightness, which Epson said enables the projector to offer up to three-times higher color brightness than leading competitive projectors.
The 3LCD projector, which is targeted at a wider consumer base with a low price point ($359.99), can display images up to 300 inches, or up to 25 times the size of a standard flat-panel 60-inch television.
“The Home Cinema 640 is the ideal projector for movie nights, outdoor matinees and multiplayer videogames,” Jason Palmer, marketing manager, Epson America, said in a statement. “With features including portability, high color brightness, flexible setup with four built-in color modes and versatile HDMI connectivity, users can easily enjoy their favorite movie or TV show using their choice of device with quick and easy setup straight out of the box.”
Epson said the projector’s all-digital HDMI port allows for versatile connectivity, meaning the Home Cinema 640 will enable users to view content from a range of devices including a cable or satellite box, Blu-ray player, gaming console, a GoPro, or streaming device. And four built-in color modes are optimized to display the best picture quality and color for a variety of different environments. The Home Cinema 640 also offers built-in sound and easy setup and installation for flexible placement.
The Home Cinema 640 is available now through select retailers nationwide and on the Epson online store. It retails for $359.99, and that includes a two-year limited warranty, toll-free access to Epson’s PrivateLine tech support, and a 90-day limited lamp warranty.
