Once primarily known as a maker of printers, Epson chose to focus on its Elite Pro Cinema Projectors at CE Week 2015, held June 23-25 in New York City.
Designed to bring movie theater-quality performance to home theaters, Epson’s Pro Cinema LS9600e and LS1000 projectors feature 3LCD Reflective laser projection technology intended to deliver phenomenal picture quality and color brightness.
The LS1000 adds 4K Enhancement Technology to provide 4K 1080p detail and sharpness on home video screens.
Epson also stated that the projectors offer absolute black contrast enabling viewers to experience “unprecedented” black levels with zero lumens.
The projectors have a dual laser illumination system—one for red and green, and the other for blue—to ensure balanced images, and a wide color gamut.
Built-in fans and thermal-conducive copper piping are intended to ensure cool, quiet performance. According to Epson personnel at CE Week, the projectors’ laser assembly provides 30,000 hours of operation.
The LS9600e retails for $6,000. The 4k-enhanced LS1000 sells for $8,000.
