ELAN to Ship First Part of "g!" System
ELAN Home Systems said this week that it will soon ship the first product of its "g!" whole-house entertainment system. The system, built on the company's HomeLogic line, sports a second-generation protocol-based control system.
The first release will sport the Configurator 5.0 Software Suite, the TS2 Film Interactive OLED Touchpad and VL2 tabletop kit, as well as upgrades to the system's current controllers as well as new drivers. Interfaces for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad will be available as well.
“As one of the first companies to develop an iPhone Home Management ap, we realized early on that today’s customers demand easy-to-use solutions that run on popular mainstream devices like the iPhone," the company's president and CEO, Bob Farinelli, said as part of the announcement.
"'g!' delivers unsurpassed cross-platform support and scalability, while empowering the consumer to personalize everyday functions such as lighting scenes and climate schedules. Our customers will be elated that they don’t need to call the Dealer for these basic 'tweaks,' and that makes our Dealers happy because they get fewer callbacks.”
ELAN also announced this week that the "g!" system will support Sony's new Blu-ray 400 Disc Changer, through a special driver.
The company has also launched a new Web site, at www.gvangelist.com, to promote the system, while the rest of the "g!" product line will arrive throughout the year. The system is being shown this week at the EH Expo in Orlando.
