Ready to debut their new line of speakers, Elac has aptly named their most exciting line of home speakers, the Debut 2.0. Debut 2.0 is the newest member of the Debut family, adding a series of upgrades to the already impressive, high-fidelity speakers.
“Based on feedback from dealers and end-users, along with changes in the market, we have completely re-designed the entire line-up," said Andrew Jones, vice president engineering, ELAC. "With newly developed drivers, waveguides, cabinets and networks resulting in a line that is easier to setup and offers significant performance improvements."
The Debut 2.0 line has a few notable features that upgrade it over the previous version. Rocking wide-dispersion waveguided tweeters, the new silk-dome tweeter features a wide-roll surround takes response up to 35,000 Hz. The waveguide improves directivity control and reduces the diffraction modes inherent in traditional box enclosures. Along with an extended low-frequency response the new design gives improved integration with the woofer.
Elac has also revised the design of the aramid-fiber woofer, for improved stiffness and damping. All of this is housed in a thick MDF cabinet that comes in a black ash vinyl finish. The Debut 2.0 line has also optimized center speaker sensitivity and impedance to minimize the power requirement from the AV receiver, maximizing dynamic impact from lower cost receivers.
On the software side, Elac adds an app-controlled AutoEQ to control multiple subwoofers at the same time from their phone. Each subwoofer can be controlled individually or as a group.
The Debut 2.0 line sports nine new models, including bookshelf, center, and floor standing speakers. A 10"400-watt powered subwoofer, a 4"-inch on-wall speaker, and a 4" concentric Dolby Atmos add-on fill out their lineup. All models are available in the coming week through ELAC retailers.
