DoorBird Door Intercoms Incorporate ThinKnx System
German-manufactured door intercom system, DoorBird, is now compatible with ThinKnx panels. With ThinKnx, users can control their KNX home automation and access their DoorBird intercom system in addition to controlling heating and alarm systems. This new integration allows for all of these capabilities to be accessed in one place.
The DoorBird intercom doorbell produces a live video of the entrance of your home when someone approaches the door. Now, in addition to appearing on your smartphone, the video will be available through a ThinKnx user interface. From there, users can speak to visitors and open the door to let them inside (or not).
Both DoorBird and Thinknx are members of the globally recognized fieldbus for building automation, the KNX Association. Most notably, KNX transmits simple switching and control commands like “switch on the light” and “close shutter.” To transmit larger amounts of data though, the IP and network technology is required.
Through the new API, DoorBird IP video door intercoms have the capability to be integrated into just about anything, making ThinKnx a perfect match. To get started, DoorBird has released a step-by-step guide for users on how to go about connecting a DoorBird IP Video Door Station to a ThinKnx Server.
