DoorBird and PEAKnx Partnership Expands Access to Home Security
Just a week after DoorBird announced its compatibility with ThinKnx panels, Bird Home Automation CEO Sascha Keller called upon the ranks of PEAKnx to hop on board next
PEAKnx is a manufacturer of solutions for home and building automation while Bird Home Automation (commonly known as DoorBird) develops innovative door communication technologies. KNX users can now connect to DoorBird stations though PEAKnx Controlmini and Controlpro touch panels to speak to visitors at their door.
"It quickly became clear to me that there was a great potential to combine our know-how," said Keller. "The cooperation has developed very positively and quickly from the very beginning. Thanks to our open API, we were able to integrate DoorBird into the PEAKnx system within a very short time which allows us now to offer our customers even greater flexibility when it comes to their smart home."
Installation and setup of the IP door stations and KNX panels is said to be pretty painless. The DoorBird and PEAKnx panels can actually be integrated into PEANKnx’s visualization software, YOUVI, via RTSP stream, and the two communicate via SIP gateway. After installation of X-Lite software from CounterPath on the KNX panel, the connection is complete.
"Shortly after DoorBird approached us, it was clear that working together is a great idea," says Palmsteiner. "We look forward to continuing working together very productively and are currently developing an interface between YOUVI and the SIP gateway that will make the use of the X-Lite software redundant.”
PEAKnx and DoorBird share a common goal of driving innovative technology into the home. Through their new partnership, the two companies hope to do just that by making front door control smarter.
