Delos Officially Launches DARWIN Home Wellness Technology Platform
The DARWIN Home Wellness Intelligence platform is ready to begin its rollout. Earlier this year, Dealerscope had the opportunity to listen firsthand as Delos CEO and Founder Paul Scialla explained the platform to the gathered HTSA membership—HTSA and Delos have formed a partnership to bring the technology into the residential arena. And now, just a few short months later, Delos believes it’s in a position to begin taking the next step.
Delos, which got its start in commercial real estate and the WELL Building Standard, wants to revolutionize the way we look at health in the home. Their method of doing that, the DARWIN platform, utilizes the same principles and Delos’ proprietary wellness algorithms and sensor technologies to create spaces that “reduce stress, improve sleep quality, increase performance, and enhance overall well-being.”
The way it was explained at the HTSA Spring Conference, where there are building certifications like the LEED program that focus on the outside and the impact on the surrounding environment, Delos is focused on everything inside the building and the impact on those people within those four walls.
“Despite most of human history spent outside, we now spend nearly 90 percent of our time indoors, and yet rarely focus on the impact the indoor environment can have on our health and well-being. Through extensive scientific research and real-world testing, we discovered that we can mitigate environmental triggers within our homes to enhance both physical and emotional well-being,” Scialla said in a statement announcing the rollout. “Delos’ DARWIN platform incorporates health and wellness features and technologies into the home to bring the benefits of natural outdoor conditions inside. We are excited to work with our global partners to introduce a new era of wellness technology into homes.”
To assist in the rollout, Delos said it has partnered up with a number of premier dealers, installers, builders, and other stakeholders across the globe. That includes HTSA, whose members will receive training in order to become DARWIN accredited dealers and installers. Additionally, Delos is working with KB Home as a title sponsor for the KB “Home of Future,” which is scheduled to be unveiled at CES 2019; and they’re working with Lateral Estate, an Australian real estate developer, which will make DARWIN a standard offering in all of its multi-family residences in a new Sydney development.
“For years, the value proposition of smart technology in the home has been elusive for the masses,” Chief Technology Officer Jim Hunter said in the statement. “These technologies have primarily focused on security, energy, convenience and entertainment. However, it is the health and well-being of the ones we love that is most valuable. Born out of extensive research, DARWIN is the delivery platform for our wellness algorithms that helps improve the environmental conditions where we live, work, sleep and play.”
Backed by more than seven years of research, the DARWIN Home Wellness Intelligence platform focuses on four main components: air filtration, water purification, circadian lighting, and comfort-focused technologies—all of which work together to create natural outdoor conditions, Delos explained. The platform itself is powered by Delos’ cloud-based algorithms, which interact with Delos-approved products to create the optimized connected home environment. Though the focus is on implementing the platform into high-end luxury residences, Delos said the platform is flexible and accessible across all housing segments, from luxury to mass market.
