D&M Dropping Escient, Snell Brands
D&M Holdings announced Wednesday that it is discontinuing the Escient and Snell brands, in order to "utilize all of the company’s expertise toward incorporating its innovative technologies into our core D&M brands," the company said in a statement.
The company will continue to provide necessary software upgrades for its existing products, and will still honor warranties and provide customer service for the discontinued brands. Escient and Snell technologies will be applied to existing products under the other brand names.
D&M will be focusing on its core consumer brands of Denon, Marantz, McIntosh, and Boston Acoustics, as well as its professional brands, Calrec, Allen and Heath and D&M Pro.
The company said it posted a "significant improvement in profitability" for the fiscal year that ended March 31. In addition, the company plans a large celebration for the 100th anniversary this year of the Denon brand, and it will bring a presence to CEDIA Expo in Atlanta this September.
"D&M is well positioned for the new fiscal year, and we look forward to working closely with our loyal channel partners to deliver the best premium audio and video experience to end consumers," the company said as part of the announcement.
