D-Box, the company that puts roll, pitch, heave and shake into your home theater experience, just announced a new way to get the body-jarring in your house for a lot less money. The new GPH-120 is hybrid motion system that be configured either as a PC gaming chair or as a home theater chair. The system includes a chair with two motion actuators that will rock and roll in response to codes from the motion controller. The gaming version includes a steering wheel, pedals and joystick, while the home theater version replaces the foodt pedals with a foot rest. The new system will cost $2,999, which is, well, a lot less than D-Box’s previous motion gaming chair and a whole lot less than D-Box platform systems which place home theater chairs on large platforms mounted on actuators. Currently there are 10 PC game titles (Need for Speed Undercover, Crysis Warhead, R Factor, Battlefield 2 …) with D-Box motion codes and nearly 1,000 movies. There are now 30 Blu-ray movies with the motion code written directly onto the disc. Other D-Box titles retrieve the motion code from the Internet via the controller device.
