One Voice: Delivering the CR One-Two Punch
With CEDIA EXPO only a few short weeks away, at CustomRetailer we are gearing up for quite a few special events.
They include not only EXPO, but the Manufacturers' Excellence Awards, which CustomRetailer proudly sponsors, on Sat., September 25 (for a full list of this year's nominees please turn to page 32), and also our own EXC!TE Awards ceremony on Thurs., September 23, at the popular Luckie Food Lounge Skydeck from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. We guarantee a great time, and a fab view.
Besides these fun events, we all know that EXPO is about business and education. A theme that is bound to be prevalent at this year's EXPO is looking for those nuggets of growth opportunities during these changing times. As Caleb Yaryan, chief technology officer, Certified Cyber Solutions, writes in this month's CyberSpace column, "Here's a clue—technical knowledge plus advanced processes equals superior service, and that will never become a commodity item and certainly can't be found online.
"While the parts and pieces of the client's system can be price-shopped, the ability to properly configure these devices and (just as importantly) keep them running properly, cannot. Any dealer that is not taking a serious look at monitoring their customer's systems in order to ensure they're performing optimally is missing the boat. This IT-centric shift offers dealers a significant opportunity to provide valuable support and service solutions.
"Every integrator knows there are many months of follow-up service with a large system. This follow-up should be outlined at the beginning, should be formalized and, most importantly, monetized. You need to manage your client's technology needs—not let the technology manage you!"
