Control4 Unveils New Home Controller, Upgrades Product Warranties to Two Years
Home control and entertainment manufacturer Control4 debuted its newest home controller HC-300. Meanwhile, it extended product warranties across its entire line to two years.
The hook for the $699 Home Controller HC-300, due this month, is that offers high-definition output for its home control interface, which many consumers will view on their HDTVs. Control4 also overhauled its aesthetic approach, employing a glossy black faceplate “circled with warm metallic nickel accents.” Also included: two DB9 serial ports (DB9), increased processing capabilities for handling larger media databases and other processor-intensive applications, WiFi expansion capabilities. The HC-300 is backwards-compatible with all Control4 products, said the vendor.
Control4 positions the HC-300 as “the central building block for a smart home, making it easy for anyone to add intelligent control to a home at a truly affordable price.” It said the device replaces, on averages, “more than four traditional remotes.” Beyond home theater management, it can expand to control multi-room audio, lighting, climate, security and other automation applications.
Meanwhile, Control4 said it is doubling the length of its standard warranty across its entire product line from 12 to 24 months. All current shipping products will carry the new warranty as a standard, while all products shipped after January 1, 2007, will be upgraded to the new warranty.
