Shortly after purchasing Triad Speakers for a cool $9.6 million in February, the premium speaker solution launched an outdoor speaker. Today, they have announced their Designer Series, a line of speakers that claim to offer big sound in an unassuming package.
The Designer Series is a "tiny four-inch, flush-mount speaker grill" aimed at pleasing the market intersection of home designers, home builders, and the dealers that connect them with a client.
"The Triad Designer Series speakers are uniquely engineered to hide neatly in a ceiling while projecting full, rich sound from an unobtrusive, tiny four-inch flush-mounted grill, all while retaining simple serviceability," Control4 notes in a press release. "With both full range and subwoofer models, Triad Designer Series speakers reproduce a wider range of sound than traditional invisible speakers and employ Triad’s Ultra-Broad Dispersion tweeter to fill a room with music without ever compromising design aesthetics."
Ultra-Broad Dispersion (UBD), which is also found in Triad's Garden Array speaker and sub, is a secret sauce that projects sound in a 150-degree cone. Triad claims the same UBD tweeters in the Designer Series disperses sound 50-percent "wider than conventional speakers, minimizing spots where the music is too loud or too quiet."
Control4 says both speakers will be available to integrators right now, in the form of a full-range (two woofers, one UBD tweeter) DS4-FR and a matching subwoofer aptly named the DS4-SUB. Both are priced at $1,400 MSRP and a 10-year warranty.
