Remote Technologies Inc.’s (RTI) T2C Universal System Controller ($799 MSRP, available fourth quarter) is its latest wireless controller. It sports a high-resolution color touchscreen and 35 hard buttons. Bi-directional ZigBee technology provides RF control. Using RTI’s Windows-based TheaterTouch Designer software, installers can develop a control tool based on the T2C for any size of home theater.
Somfy Systems’ Sonesse Motor Range automates roller shades, roman shades and wood blinds with ultra-quiet precision. Available with built in Radio Technology Somfy (RTS), its near-silent motors can be integrated with many home automation systems. Simplified plug-in wiring makes installation easier.
Crestron’s Isys i/O TPMC-4X handheld WiFi touchpanel is the latest addition to its Isys i/O Touchpanel Media Center line. The Windows CE.NET 4.2-based system provides two-way Wi-Fi communication with any Ethernet Crestron system for control of lights, A/V, HVAC, shades and screens. The user experience is enhanced by dynamic graphics and complete system status feedback. It sports a 3.5-inch touchscreen and 17 programmable, backlit pushbuttons.
Exceptional Innovation’s Life|point high-definition in-wall touchpanel, available in 8.9- and 12.1-inch sizes, allows users to surf four different 720p video streams simultaneously. Content is streamed on Cat 5e or Cat 6 cable; no analog switching is involved. Active volume is indicated by green edge-highlighting, and can be switched to a different stream with a tap. For full-screen views, the user taps twice on the selected stream. Simple DVR caching is also provided.
NetStreams’ DoorLinX DX100 is an IP-based doorbell/intercom system that includes an integrated microphone, four-watt speaker and matching doorbell unit. An MP3 audio file, including a recorded voice, can be used as a door chime or to have sounds associated with different doors or points of entry. DoorLinX works with the DigiLinX Multi-Room Entertainment and Control system.
Vantage Controls’ TouchPoint 1210 Tablet is a customizable web-tablet touchscreen that provides room-to-room wireless control of lights, HVAC, shades, security systems and music, as well as the ability to search the web and check e-mail. Included is InFusion Media software, which combines the touchscreen control of Vantage’s InFusion automation system with the control of Windows Media Center. It auto-discovers digital media devices and lighting control systems on a home network.
