Clare Controls wants everyone to have home automation
Clare Controls is unapologetically targeting the mainstream market with its home automation systems, which start at $1,000. And judging from what I saw today at CEDIA 2015, the company has a serious shot.
Better yet, the company is offering integrators that Holy Grail: recurring revenue through a service program that costs the homeowner $12.95 a month. The best part? Clare does the servicing, and you get a cut.
Also, once installed, the systems are super-configurable by the end user, and any help they need can be done remotely -- and chances are the homeowner won't need much help.
At CEDIA 2015, Clare showed "the CLIQ.mini automation controller, the four-zone amp.440+, expanded product integration and new customer support tools including the new ClareHome app, the myClareHome.com customer portal, and a dedicated customer support line," said the company.
The CLIQ.mini automation controller enables homeowners to control lighting, garage doors, door locks, thermostats, CCTV cameras, and other applications, using a cloud-based platform. It's intended for custom residential developments and multi-dwelling units.
The Clare amp.440+ is all about multi-room audio. It features a built-in matrix switcher and audio receiver and wireless streaming capabilities.
The company, which has collaborated with many technology brands, just added Sony and Sonos to its roster. Amazon Echo and Honeywell Wi-Fi thermostats join the library of Clare drivers for more than 1,800 devices. It's even offering dealers a branded Honeywell VisionPRO 8000 for resale to their customers.
The ClareHome app makes it easy for homeowners to set schedules, create scenes, conduct macros, and create notifications. "At the same time, integrators have complete visibility of these changes and can remotely view, add, delete, reconfigure, and recover previous versions," said the company. Even more impressive, an RSS feed allows the integrator to push messages out to the homeowner, providing a free, unobtrusive way to keep your company top of mind with your client.
