CEDIA Plans New Structure, Initiatives
CEDIA CEO Utz Baldwin, seeing his industry at a crossroads, announced several changes in a press conference Thursday at CEDIA Expo in Atlanta, including a new council structure and the launch of a comprehensive, industry-wide research project.
"Many of us have had to make changes in our business and in how we operate" in the last couple of years, Baldwin said, and CEDIA is no exception. This led the organization to adopt a new "bottoms-up approach" in order to encourage growth for CEDIA members.
This starts with a new council structure for the group's Electronics Systems Contractor members, which will allow them to organize themselves. CEDIA has also begun to launch special interest groups. Some examples have included the Performance Entertainment Group, Retrofit Technologies Group and more.
"This new bottoms-up approach will provide more value to the member," Baldwin said.
The research project is another part of that effort, as is the organization's legislative work, Baldwin said in the speech.
