CEDIA, the big buying groups, a manufacturer, and members of the CI industry all walked into a meeting room. That sounds like the start of a terrible, no-good joke, but it’s an actual event that took place earlier this month in Philadelphia. And it’s something that, just a few short years ago, might’ve seemed unthinkable.
NAPCO Media, the parent company of this publication, played host to CEDIA, leaders from the major buying groups around the country (including HTSA, HTSN, Azione, and ProSource), one manufacturer (Lutron), and representatives from local custom integration companies (American-Automation, Mainline Sound & Vide, Sound Xperience, and SupplyStream).
The group of individuals spent the morning and early afternoon discussing how they can all work together—instead of against one another—to help the CI industry grow and thrive. They talked about the challenges they each face in realizing that growth and the role that an organization like CEDIA should play in facilitating growth throughout the industry.
The fruits of their labor will be discussed in due time, but at the end of the day, a number of the participants agreed to offer their thoughts on how the proceedings went. Take a look.
Proof that, with a little willingness to bend, anything is possible in the CI industry. Here’s to many more meetings between these (and many other) great minds!
