CEDIA announces 2015 Humanitarian Award recipient
Luke Dixon from Imagine That Audio and Video is the recipient of CEDIA’s 2015 Humanitarian Award, the association announced on Wednesday. Dixon will be recognized during the CEDIA Awards Celebration on Saturday, October 17, at the CEDIA Expo in Dallas.
CEDIA selected Dixon as its honoree for his work on the Lone Survivor Foundation Crystal Beach Retreat Facility. Dixon volunteered his time and expertise to help lead a team of installers as they developed a tailor-made, intuitive system for the facility. Despite the facility’s location some six hours away from his Frisco, Texas-based office, Dixon was able to coordinate with other CEDIA members who donated products, services, and time to the project.
“Luke identified the opportunity to give back and took on this project with few resources and remained completely dedicated to it, often staying at the project for several days at a time in an effort to complete it,” Hagai Feiner, CEDIA Board Member, said in a statement. “This is exactly the type of work we hoped to recognize when we created the Humanitarian Award.”
CEDIA launched the Humanitarian Award earlier this year and said it would look to recognize a company or individual who is working to improve life at home for those with special needs. The Lone Survivor Foundation Crystal Beach Retreat Facility fit the bill, in its own right, as a provider of all-expenses-paid educational and therapeutic retreats for members of the military, veterans, and their families. The retreat, which opened in April, said Dixon’s work installing the electronic systems helped to create a “true haven” for its guests.
“Our goal is to take the service member out of their normal, everyday environment to a peaceful place of healing and Luke worked side-by-side with our staff and counselors ensuring the attendees experience at the facility is as seamless and stress-free as possible,” said Terry Jung, executive director of the Lone Survivor Foundation.
