CEA: CE Industry to Reach $700 Billion Next Year
Worldwide revenue for the consumer electronics industry will reach $700 billion for the first time in 2009, based on annual growth of $42 billion (10 percent.)
That’s according to a survey released Wednesday by the Consumer Electronics Association, in conjunction with the GfK Group.
The CEA/GfK Worldwide Consumer Electronics Sales & Forecast predicted that the largest growth will come in Brazil, Russia, India and China, with mobile products, including GPS devices, accounting for a large part of the growth.
“No matter where consumers are, whether it’s on the coast of Turkey or the mountains of Peru, they crave access to information, entertainment and two-way communication,” CEA’s director of market research, Tim Herbert, said as part of the summary of the study.
