CE Week Women in CE Forum 2013 Provides Education and Solid Career Advice
After just a few years, the Annual Women in CE Forum at CE Week has become a must-attend event every June. This year’s theme, “Empower Your Entrepreneurial Spirit—A Career Enhancement Forum” took place June 25 at NYC’s Rubin Museum of Art.
The Forum served up a full day of sessions, topics, workshops and keynote speakers that relate to career enhancement for all corporate, small business and entrepreneurial women pursuing a career in consumer electronics.
So many great ideas and information came out of this jam-packed one day event starting with power house opening keynote by Kay Koplovitz. Kay is the founder of USA Networks, The SYFY Channel and a Game Changing Entrepreneur, having held such titles as Chairman of the Board, Fifth & Pacific (Formerly Liz Claiborne Inc.);Chairman and CEO, Koplovitz & Company; Chairman & Co-Founder, Springboard Enterprises. In 1998, President Clinton appointed Koplovitz to chair the bipartisan National Women’s Business Council. She used this platform to launch Springboard Enterprises in a move to get women entrepreneurs to “think big” about their growth companies and to raise venture capital to fund them.
Next on the agenda was "Ideapreneur" Sam Horn, author of POP!, with a presentation called "OWN IT! How to Give and Get the Respect you Deserve." Horn is a dynamo and has been featured on MSNBC, BusinessWeek.com, Fastcompany.com and in The New York Times. She provided audience members with tangible systems and approaches that we will be able to communicate with confidence and increase our influence, authority and results.
This year’s Featured Workshop was: Springboard Enterprises Presents The Dolphin Tank. Amy Millman, President of Springboard Enterprises, adapted its popular Dolphin Tank workshop for the Women in CE audience. The Dolphin Tank is a supportive, vision-expanding, light-bulbs-going-off experience. It’s about the “network effort” – getting actionable insights from knowledgeable people who just might help you make a change or consider options that make the difference in what opportunities come your way. Guests panelists include Angela Lee, founder of 37 Angels Investment Network, Sandra Kresch, president of PSD International, Debra Filtzer, American Express Merchant Services, and Sandra Benedetto, Director of Product Management at THX Ltd.
