Catalyst AV member Pioneer Music Company opens huge shopping and distribution center
Bigger is better for Catalyst AV Distribution Network member Pioneer Music Company (PMC), as the distributor last month expanded its Lenexa, Kan., facility from 6,000 square feet to 18,000 square feet. President Dan Haight says the expansion will allow PMC to better serve its customer base in Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Southern Illinois.
In addition to conference and training rooms, the new shopping and distribution center features a 1,000-square foot 12-volt showroom and a 2,000-square-foot Home AV showroom in a "shopping mart" atmosphere. The 12-volt room displays unboxed products to allow dealers hands-on experiences, while the Home AV room features Ultra HD and IoT-enabled products. According to Haight, the "mart" experience for 12-volt products is unique to the territory.
The facility also now serves as PMC's main shipping/receiving annex, with most dealers able to take advantage of one-day shipping. Previously, most of the shipping was handled by PMC's Chanute, Kan., warehouse, which because of its location had a tougher time with one-day shipping.
PMC hosted an “Old Kansas City-themed Rhythm and Brews” sales event for more than 100 dealers on June 25 and 26, featuring heavy discounts. PMC also raffled off a Yamaha receiver, a Vivitek projector, an HD antenna from Antennas Direct, Definitive Technology speakers and a Niles 200-watt amplifier.
Hours of operation for the facility are 7:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
Amazingly, PMC has been around in some shape or form since 1869, which is really saying something in this fast-changing world.
