Distributor Capitol’s booth at CEDIA 2018 included a host of cutting-edge technologies, including the newest TCL and Russound products, as well as expanded lines from Nest and Ring.
Another focal point there was the LeakSmart water leak sensor system from the new Capitol vendor of the same name – which monitors moisture and temperature and can shut off an unattended home’s water main within five seconds or less when it senses a leak; it also notifies the homeowner via an email alert.
Capitol President and CFO Curt Hayes observed that fiber optic was among the new hot-topic categories for CEDIA attendees. “Dealers have a real desire to learn,” Hayes said, noting that Capitol makes a point of being responsive to their educational needs.
The company’s dealer support activities include hosting webinars by Chris Scanlan, sales engineer. Capitol also offers YouTube videos on an average of once a month; ‘A Minute With Mike’ segments hosted by Mike Marko, tech trainer, have in recent months covered topics ranging from free freight to Sony Professional Video products, to the Listen Technologies assisted listening solutions.
Diving even deeper into eduational initiatives, Capitol recently hosted a day-long open house and training program at its Minnesota headquarters; the program featured 40 participating companies, including such brands as JBL Pro, Denon, Luxul, Sony, and Key Digital, and the plan is to include additional vendor partners in 2019.
