Capitol Sales Revamps Web Site, Adds Sherwood
Residential, light commercial and A/V specialty distribution company Capitol Sales announced that it is going public with a refurbished Web site that stresses interactivity and streamlines the administrative side of the company’s relationship with its customers.
“Our first goal,” said strategic development director Jeff Kussard, “is to support transactional aspects of our business so that our salespeople can be more consultants to our dealers and less administrators. We have many well-seasoned salespeople and many with backgrounds beyond distribution and in retail. The idea is that with this change, they can spend more time helping dealers when they need advice, or with their business challenges.”
The site will also eventually be populated with supplier data presented in what Kussard termed a “boutique approach” that will mime a store-within-a-store environment. It has been designed with manufacturer “buttons” using the logos of manufacturers and will be a portal to traditional manufacturer data but also, to easily accessible and navigable presentations from Capitol’s suppliers that will be unique to the site, he added.
Audio speaker supplier KEF is now working with Capitol on refining how a click on its logo will access information and videos about its products and how they can best be sold, and Kussard said that this approach could migrate to “about a dozen” manufacturers’ site presentations by the end of the year. “Capitol has always been a value-added distributor, and we believe, the first such one in our space. This move is in line with our view that we’re not just box-pushers but are there to help dealers grow their businesses; we’re their sounding board.”
The company has also announced that it just added the product ranges of Sherwood America to its portfolio. These include Sherwood’s high-performance Newcastle line of A/V receivers as well as its Netboxx combination A/V receiver and streaming media system.
