The back-to-school season reminds us to focus on the basics. While excellent business communication is a critically important basic skill, surprisingly few have it mastered.
Good communication (spoken and written) is hard to describe, but we know it when we hear or see it. What are the basic rules of business communication and conduct? Here are the top four fundamentals: 1) Say what you mean. 2) Mean what you say. 3) Don¹t assume everyone understands you. 4) Reply when asked a question. Hmmm. Show many people do you know that do all four consistently? Has your company mastered basic business communication?
