Brett Price Founder and CEO of Clare Controls On Cloud Based Systems and the Future
Technology Integrator: Tell us more about Clare Controls. What makes you different?
Brett Price: At Clare Controls, we build uncommon solutions to common problems. A problem becomes a common problem when you try to fix it with “business-as-usual.” We believe that opportunity lies in innovation - in taking different, better, and more intelligent approaches to these challenges.
Some of the problems we have addressed, like making our dealers more efficient, require broad, strategic responses. Others are as simple and tactical as a point solution product that works better, costs less, or occupies less space than its predecessors. In either case, it’s our intimate understanding of both the business and the technology that allows us to deliver these smarter, more effective solutions.
When we launched Clare Controls, our goal was to improve dealer efficiency. A key thread of Clare’s DNA can be traced to our background in telecom, where we provided systems that allowed cable operators to manage hundreds of thousands of deployed devices. Our team approached home automation from that perspective.
We’ve invested more than $15 million in the development of a carrier-grade ecosystem that is built using an OSGi technology framework identical to those that companies like Verizon and Deutsche Telekom use to maintain and monitor their home automation offerings.
We address the traditional inefficiencies of endless truck rolls and on-site deployments by enabling integrators to take advantage of this carrier grade technology framework to manage home automation projects remotely. Using this technology, dealer’s access our multi-tenant framework securely from anywhere, and deploy projects to the ClareOS controllers running independently in their customers’ homes.
Let’s take that one step further. The Clare technology framework employs Silent Updates to remove the integrator’s burden of having to maintain an installed base of ClareOS operating systems. The Clare ecosystem can initiate about 3,000 of these updates per second, assuring that every project in every Clare dealer’s installed base will always be running on the latest ClareOS code. Common problem….uncommon solution. For now, that is.
