BeON Home is Now Shipping its Home Protection System to Consumers
For consumers, upgrading their residence to a “smart home” is as simple as screwing in a new light bulb, literally. That’s because BeON Home—the company credited with creating the first Bluetooth Smart-based home protection system—has begun shipping its smart modules and LED light bulbs to consumers in North America.
The BeON home protection systems uses a different approach to home security and safety that uses smart modules that are hidden inside of the LED light bulbs, BeON explained in a press release. The LED lights provide safety lighting in emergency and power outage situations and are proactive in using home security measures to make it look like the user is home, even when they’re not.
"At BeON, we believe that as technology evolves it should become more intuitive. We should have more natural interaction with our tech, allowing us to go about our daily routines with ease," Alexei Erchak, CEO and cofounder of BeON Home, said in a statement. "Today, we are excited to be shipping a solution that makes home protection accessible for anyone and improves the security and safety of your home with a practical, affordable and easy-to-use system. With BeON, you simply install the bulbs and live your life."
BeON released a short video that details how its home protection system works:
The BeON Home Protection System is available through the company’s website and select security dealers. The system retails for $199 and comes with three smart modules and three LED light bulbs. The system is controlled through a free mobile app that is currently available only on iOS with an Android version coming soon, BeON said. Additional LED bulbs and modules are available for $75 and can be added to the system for larger homes and more protection.
