Beale Street Audio, most famously known for their proprietary Sonic Vortex loudspeaker technology, has been scooped up by Vanco International, for an undisclosed amount. Illinois-based Vanco has been manufacturing and distributing branded A/V products and accessories for the past 60-plus years.
“Beale Street Audio was a vibrant brand that brought a lot of energy to the architectural audio market by introducing real innovation into a category that needed something fresh," said Brad Corbin, President, Vanco International. "At Vanco, we are committed to providing products that will greatly serve our distributors and dealers and the acquisition of Beale Street Audio allows us to do just that."
Vanco has expanded their brand portfolio to support residential and commercial integrators, highlighting their PulseAudio Bluetooth speaker and amplifier line as a foundation for acquiring "complimentary products" in the form of Beale's assets.
“Previously, Beale Street ran into supply challenges just as the product was gaining traction, receiving rave product reviews, and building distribution,” said Mark Corbin, Vice President Distribution Markets, Vanco International. “We saw the opportunity to offer dealers a product they loved, with a simplified sales model plus the strong distribution and support network that Vanco provides.”
A New Chapter for Beale Street
Beale's market security was found in Jim Murray's patented Sonic Vortex technology. It was also the cause of the company website shutting down for a few weeks, a handful of employee dismissals, and an empty Beale Street booth at ISE 2016 back in February. The fulcrum of that issue rested on founding company Fulmerco pulling out on a deal that would sell Beale Street to Murray.
So a few months later - and the product line off the market for a few months during the acquisition process - Beale Street has found a new home with Vanco. As a cherry on top, Beale Street Audio will also keep its name, leveraging Vanco for all of their distribution, service, pricing, and support needs.
“Beale Street Audio has exuded passion for music and entertainment from the start, and Vanco understands the value and importance of continuing this experience with Beale Street products," said Mark Corbin. "We are truly excited about this incredible opportunity and what it does for our customers.”
Expect to see Beale Street Audio's full line of products at CEDIA in September, and hit the ground running with a full offering of their products by August 1st.
