B&W Releases In-Wall Speaker
B&W Loudspeakers said this week that it has introduced a new in-wall subwoofer, the ISW-4. Designed by B&W veteran Dr. John Dibb, the speaker arrives this month.
“B&W engineering has been working on an in-wall subwoofer design for quite some time," B&W vice president of sales and marketing Doug Henderson said as part of the announcement.
"Why the long wait, you may ask? Sticking a woofer in a wall doesn’t seem that hard after all…and there are many poorly executed designs testifying to this fact. Creating an in-wall subwoofer that meets B&W’s high standards for performance yet is visually unobtrusive and easy to install, however, is a much bigger challenge."
The full system sells at a suggested retail price of $2,000. The ISW-4 subwoofers sell for $800 each, the SA-250 amplifier/crossover sells for $1,000 each, while the ISW-4 back-box sells for $200.
