August Home Doorbell Cam Adds Even More Alexa Support
Adding yet another avenue to totally dominate, Amazon Alexa is now integrating directly into August Home Doorbell Cam. If you look at the timeline of August and their relationship with Amazon, this is the obvious step along the road.
Over the summer of 2016, August added its first integration with the smart home assistant. Just dipping their toes into the water, Alexa allowed homeowners to check the status of if a door was locked or not. The next obvious step was being able to unlock remotely, and being able to use their voice to unlock their door. Fast forward about six months later, and August got it. Of course "Alexa, ask August to unlock my door" is one of a two-part system (for safety of course) but to their credit, it gave the people what they wanted.
Even more recently, August rolled out their Home Doorbell cam and wasted no time getting it up to snuff. The main proponent, of course, is keeping up with Amazon's Echo Show, their newest line of Alexa domination products. "Alexa, show me the front door," switches the live feed of the Echo Show to the doorbell feed.
“It’s great to delight customers by adding value to the products they already own and rely on as part of their daily lives. We added the ability to control the August Smart Lock with Alexa earlier this year, which has been extremely popular,” said Jason Johnson, CEO of August Home, Inc. “With the expansion of our Amazon Alexa skill, we are making it easier for our customers to control their Doorbell Cam. Now they can display video of visitors outside their door using their voice.”
August notes that the Alexa skill is available immediately to door cam owners.
