At ISE 2019: New-Gen Anthem Room Correction Software, ARC Genesis, Spotlighted
Anthem unveiled details about its third-generation, backward-compatible version of the Anthem Room Correction (ARC) software, ARC Genesis, during ISE 2019, and said it would be made available for free in Spring on Anthem’s website, Anthem AV.com. A proprietary DSP technology, it works with compatible 2-channel and home theater audio products, offering advanced measurement functions, acoustic correction algorithms, user-configurable target curve customization, a streamlined user interface, and support for Windows and now, also, for the Mac platform.
ARC Genesis features a redesigned user interface, and with it, a guided workflow, simple descriptive language, in-line help menus, interactive acoustic measurement graphs and the ability to replace measurements speaker by speaker, even after finishing the initial measurement set.
It also offers connections via USB, Wi-Fi/Ethernet, or Bluetooth (depending on the product). In the near future, says the company, ARC Mobile for iOS and Android will also be upgraded to include the ARC Genesis feature set. ARC’s Genesis software backward compatibility extends 10 years, the exception being early products that relied solely on RS-232 for data connections, says the company.
Performance enhancements on this iteration of the software are said to speed up the optimization algorithm and improve the quality of results. Further refinements enhance the software’s ability to detect and automatically select crossover points, analyze room gain, and calculate target curves for each speaker within a system. When used with Anthem’s STR Series products ARC Genesis aligns the phase of loudspeakers and subwoofers.
