AmTRAN to Add 85-inch JVC UHD Set to Diamond Series
AmTRAN is adding at retail in late January 2015 an 85-inch JVC-branded UHD TV to the 65-inch model it started selling in September at $1,999.
The 85-inch DM85UXR, with an SRP of $7,999, will be carried by select AmTRAN dealers including NATM and Nationwide members and large independents, said Drew Pragliola, senior vice president of sales and marketing. “Since this is a product that needs to be ‘sold,’ we are relying heavily on our regional partners who have assisted sales floors,” he said.
The 160-pound set, the company’s flagship, offers a 60-watt (15-watts-by-4) built-in audio system and has 64 local dimming zones. It boasts twice the audio power of the 30-watt (15-watt-by-2) system on the 65-inch model, and twice number of local-dimming zones on the 65. Pragliola said that only by demonstration on the retail sales floor will the 85-inch model’s Xinema Sound system get its full due.
The set, which incorporates UHD 2K-to-4K upscaling technology, direct LED backlighting and 10-bit color, comes with the Roku Streaming Stick, providing more than 1,500 channels of content. It will be supplied to retailers with a jump drive containing 100-megabit H.264 4K demo content for convenient 4K demonstration purposes.
Pragliola said that the 65-inch set will benefit on the salesfloor from “very aggressive Super Bowl promotions via instant rebate,” and holiday promotions in mid-December.
AmTRAN has also announced that it has engaged six-time PGA Tour Winner and Major Champion Stewart Cink as its brand ambassador, effective through Oct. 31, 2015. Cink will be used in digital media promotions, will wear the JVC brand on his headwear and at various events throughout the year, and will appear at the company’s Jan. 7 CES press conference.
