We’ve all been there in way form or another. You’re watching a TV program or perhaps your favorite sport when the commercials come on, blaring at a volume seemingly 10-times higher than it should be, and you quickly scramble for your remote before you blow out your speakers (and your hearing). Or, particularly with sporting events, you’ll have that crowd noise issue where it essentially drowns out the commentators—perhaps to your liking (lookin’ at you Joe Buck…), but it’s clear that something is not coming through as it should.
Now, consumers have a solution to that inconsistent TV audio problem with AfterMaster TV, a device that eliminates distorted and inconsistent sound levels while raising audio quality levels at the same time. The device, which works on virtually all televisions, is a box that is not much bigger than an iPhone. It connects to the user’s TV through HDMI ports between an A/V source and the television.
Currently active as a Kickstarter campaign, the developers of the device said it “breathes life back into sound by restoring the integrity of audio as it was originally created.” According to the developers of the device, AfterMaster TV delivers
- clearer, louder, and balanced dialogue,
- substantially less volume adjustment,
- greater-detailed sound,
- and more fullness and low end from small speakers.
The device works on a wide range of sources including satellite boxes, cable set top boxes, gaming consoles (including PS4 and Xbox), and streaming media devices (like Apple TV and Roku).
“AfterMaster's proprietary (patents pending) technology was originally developed for the music industry and it is the first breakthrough audio technology that can master and remaster audio to professional standards in real-time,” the company explains on its Kickstarter campaign site. “Unlike any other audio enhancement technology, AfterMaster makes any audio source sound substantially better throughout its entire frequency range.”
