Sony Product Showcase Highlights 3D

Sony Electronics showed a representative selection of models that its dealers will carry through the holiday sales season, at a Product Showcase in New York City Wednesday night. Here is a sampling of some of the planned introductions.

El-Deane Naude, Sony product information manager, holds the DSC-TX9 Cyber-shot digital camera (Sept.; $400). It and its sister model, the DSC-WX5 (Sept.; $300) both feature 3D Sweep Panorama shooting capability. The TX9 also features a 3.5-inch touchscreen.

The Sony TriQ boombox (current; about $130) comes with four decorative “skins” that allow listeners to customize its look with their own graphics. The device will play content from, control, and simultaneously charge an iPhone.

The Sony SMP-N100 Netbox, currently available at around $130, has built-in Wi-Fi 802.11n and offers Full HD 1080p support.

Rachelle Arcebido, Sony PR strategist, demos the new Handycam NEX-VG10 (Sept.; $2,000, with an E-mount 18-200mm lens). This is the world’s first consumer camcorder with interchangeable lenses; they can be affixed with a separately available adapter. Still images it creates are 14-megapixel.

Jon Lin, Sony business unit manager, home A/V, shows the 60-inch BRAVIA KDL-60NX810 Edge LED LCD 3DTV with Wi-Fi (Sept; $4,700). It was displayed with Sony’s high-performance ES models STR-DA3600ES 7.1-channel A/V receiver ($1,100) and BDP-S1700ES 3D Blu-ray player.
