CEA: Home Automation Customers Want Security
December 11, 2012Customers who are interested in home automation are interested in greater security. That's one of the conclusions of a study released this week by the Consumer Electroncis Association.
The Consumer Perspective on Home Automation also found that customers are interested in such features as smoke alarm and entrance/exit alerts, as well as the ability to adjust lights while not at a home.
“There is room for industry growth, with just 1.7 million households indicating they currently have a home automation system installed in their residence,” Rhonda Daniel, CEA’s manger, market research, said in a statement.
“The more consumers know about home automation, the more likely they are to adopt the technology in their homes. Our industry must work together to develop clear product descriptions and educate consumers about what these technologies can do in order to increase adoption of these systems.”
