The Pilgrims' original Thanksgiving was the result of a community with meager resources creating an "event" of celebration in the face of adversity.

Many companies in our industry owe their success to this tradition of creative resourcefulness and positive attitude.  Exemplary companies practice gratitude and quality communication at all levels. This includes saying "thank you" often. More than a social nicety, it conveys respect.

Showing gratitude with polished communication ability requires staff training, but the results are worth it.Are you making the most of your resources with an attitude of gratitude? Do you practice excellent communication all year round?

Author's Note: Creative and technical professionals (from musicians and actors to designers and engineers) rely on their "chops": those skills and techniques that they use to be successful on the job. Stiernberg Consulting coined the term Business Chops to encompass those skills, experience, and tactics that you rely on to be more successful. Whether you are a dealer, manufacturer, distributor, rep, or design firm, this series includes tips and techniques for optimizing sales, profits, and growth of your Custom Retail business.
