Savant's Carroll on the LiteTouch Acquisition

Coming on the news of yesterday's announcement that Savant had acquired LiteTouch, CustomRetailer asked Jim Carroll, Savant's General Manager, Residential Business for some more specifics:

CR: Has Savant been looking to acquire a lighting company for some time?
JC: We started off looking for a company to OEM some keypads and it just grew from there. It happened relatively quickly and Nortek has been just great to work with throughout this acquisition.

CR: Besides the obvious, what are some of the other real benefits for Savant?
JC: LiteTouch is a 30 year company and there are powerful opportunities for inclusion into other channels where LiteTouch is. The end-users are the same the channels are exciting with greater opportunities.

CR: What key channels are you referring to?
JC: Electrical distribution, specifiers, lighting designers, a/v dealers that we do not have a relationship with today.

CR: How does this news affect Savant's relationship with the company's other lighting control partners?
JC: This really is a non-issue as we will of course continue to support all our existing lighting control partners with our open platform.

CR: What are the benefits for LiteTouch?
JC: There are benefits for LiteTouch as well in that Savant is such an innovative company to be associated with. There is a lot of good-will that has already been established between the brands and both company's benefit from having energetic teams. By being been brought together and combining forces we are all pulling in the same direction.
