Ingram Micro announced Monday that it plans to integrate AVAD into the Ingram Micro Consumer Electronics Division, a division that includes DBL Distributing.

The senior vice president for strategic divisions for Ingram Micro North America, John Soumbasakis, will continue to lead the division, with the heads of DBL and AVAD reporting to him. In addition, DBL's Tim Coakley will lead vendor management and marketing for the division. Under the new structure, AVAD customers will now have access to products and services currently offered by DBL, the company said.

The company will also close five AVAD branches, in Oregon, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Florida and Utah. The AVAD side is also looking for a "national sales leader."

"With this change, we become the distributor with the broadest consumer electronics and home automation portfolio in the United States and Canada,” Soumbasakis said in a statement. “The Ingram Micro Consumer Electronics Division is the only distributor to bridge the gap between CE and home controls.  We’re confident that our CE business is a long-term strategic differentiator and growth opportunity.

Ingram Micro purchased AVAD in 2005 and DBL in 2007.
