CEA Inducts Hall of Famers

The new members of the Consumer Electronics Hall of Fame were inducted Tuesday at the CEA Industry Forum in Phoenix. The CE Hall of Fame is meant to recognize "industry leaders who have made vital contributions to the products and services that consumers value and are vital to our nation and its economy."
The inductees include Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs, Audiovox founder John Shalam, Qualcomm co-founder Dr. Irwin M. Jacobs, Listen Up cofounder Walton Stinson, former FCC chairman Richard E. Wiley, HDTV pioneer Dr. Joseph Flaherty, Zenith forerunners Karl Hassel and Ralph Mathews, Lechmere founders Norman, Maurice and Philip Cohen, and the late Neil Terk of Terk Technologies.
"I am honored to be included among this group of industry visionaries who have made such a monumental difference in advancing technology," Shalam said in a statement issued by Audiovox. "I have spent the past forty five years of my life, watching Audiovox grow from a small provider of car stereos to a billion dollar plus organization and it has been a rewarding experience for me personally, and all who have shared in our success."
CEA is currently accepting nominations for next year's class of the CE Hall of Fame.
