CEDIA View: Time to Shine

Entering the Electronic Lifestyles Awards Competition is Easier than Ever!

This year CEDIA has made two important changes to the Electronic Lifestyles® awards program to make it easier for members to enter their best projects. Here’s what you need to know:

1. No more snail mail! Entries are submitted online only.

2. Entries are no longer limited to CEDIA members with certified employees. Any CEDIA member may enter projects.

Still not convinced? Let’s debunk some of those common misconceptions about the awards competition.

Myth: I don’t do big luxury projects, I doubt I would win.

Reality: Entries are not restricted by project cost—cost categories are established each year based on the entries we receive. Did you know? The median revenue per home theater project in the industry in 2010 was $11,500*—the most affordable home theater system represented in the 2011 Electronic Lifestyles® Awards was $42,000. Help us present the full range of home technology solutions to both consumers and the industry. Enter today—no matter the size, shape or budget of your project

Myth: It’s not worth my time to enter.

Reality: According to the 2011 CEDIA Benchmarking Survey 64 percent of CEDIA members plan to increase marketing efforts to boost profitability. What better way to kick off this year’s marketing efforts than submitting your projects to compete in CEDIA’s Electronic Lifestyles® Awards competition? Entering is a minimal marketing investment with the potential to pay dividends in exposure and new business opportunities.

Through CEDIA’s growing partnership with HGTVRemodels.com, entrants in the Home Theater, Media Room and Integrated Home categories will have the opportunity to compete in the CEDIA/HGTVRemodels People’s Pick Awards competition!

Winners in the Designer Awards competition are featured in the winter edition of Electronic Lifestyles® Magazine which is distributed to 25,000 design and build professionals in the U.S. and Canada as well as hundreds of industry tradeshow attendees year-round, including Integrated Systems Europe (ISE). An electronic version and a free mobile app are also available.
