Loudspeaker maker Steinway Lyngdorf invited 150 members of the design, architectural, and custom integrator communities along with music-loving clients and media Tuesday night to Savant Systems’ 9,000-square-foot, SoHo-located Experience Center, for the official launch of its new S-Series of compact speakers.

The S-Series speakers, on demo throughout the reception, feature Steinway Lyngdorf’s RoomPerfect 3D room correction technology, now optimized for smaller rooms and yachts. They were shown at last year’s CEDIA Expo in prototype form and are now shipping.

At the event, Steinway Lyngdorf founder Peter Lyngdorf introduced Steinway artists Greg Anderson and Elizabeth Roe, who performed duets on a John Lennon “Imagine” Series Limited Edition Steinway grand piano.

On hand for the evening was Savant Systems president Jim Carroll, who expressed his pleasure at the turnout while showcasing the latest Savant control solutions, including a nearly finalized prototype of the Savant Select wand-style remote, designed with hard button controls but also encasing an Apple iPod touch.
